Raia ("the Platform", "we", "us", "our") is a digital services platform owned and operated by HERNATTER LIMITED (the "Company"), a private limited company incorporated in the United Republic of Tanzania. HERNATTER LIMITED is a diversified conglomerate, and Raia is one of its technology initiatives designed to simplify access to government service information for Tanzanian citizens.

Raia is not a government application. It is an independent, privately-built platform created to aggregate and present publicly available government service information in a user-friendly manner. We are not a department, agency, or arm of the Government of Tanzania.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of personal information when you use Raia:

• Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, NIN (National Identification Number), date of birth, place of birth, and profile photo.
• Authentication Data: Passwords (stored in encrypted form), security questions and answers.
• Usage Data: Pages visited, features used, device information, browser type, and IP address.
• Documents: Files you voluntarily upload to your personal document storage within the Platform.
• Feedback: Any feedback, comments, or messages you submit through the Platform.

3. How We Use Your Information

Your information is used to:

• Create and manage your account on the Platform.
• Maintain account authenticity and provide personalized access to services.
• Send you notifications about relevant government services and platform updates.
• Improve and enhance the Platform's features and user experience.
• Respond to your feedback and support requests.
• Comply with applicable legal requirements.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for commercial purposes.

4. Data Sharing

We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

• With your consent: When you explicitly authorize us to share information.
• Service providers: With trusted third-party providers who assist us in operating the Platform (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics), under strict confidentiality agreements.
• Legal obligations: When required by law, regulation, or legal process.
• Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets by HERNATTER LIMITED.

5. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information, including:

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you services. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., fraud prevention).

7. National Identification Number (NIN) Data

Purpose of Collection:

Raia collects National Identification Numbers (NIN) only for Raia account creation and internal platform integrity. Raia does not currently verify NIN information with any government system or national database. Providing a NIN does not constitute government authentication or approval.

Storage:

NIN data is stored securely within Raia's infrastructure using industry-standard encryption. NIN data is not shared with government agencies unless legally required to do so.

Verification Status:

Raia currently does not verify NIN information with the National Identification Authority (NIDA) or any other government identity database. The NIN you provide is treated as self-declared information.

8. Data Minimization

Raia follows data minimization principles. Only essential fields required for account creation and platform functionality are collected. No biometric data, sensitive national registry data, or government-level authentication data is accessed, stored, or processed by the Platform.

9. Future Identity Verification Integration

If Raia receives official authorization to integrate with identity verification services (such as NIDA), users will be notified in advance and additional explicit consent will be required before any verification is performed. Any such integration will be:

• Optional: Users will not be forced to undergo identity verification.
• Consent-based: Users must give explicit consent before any verification takes place.
• Minimal: Raia will only request the minimum necessary fields (e.g., name, gender, status).

If approved by relevant authorities, Raia may introduce optional identity verification through official channels in the future. Until such authorization is obtained, Raia does not perform any government identity verification.

10. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal information stored on the Platform.
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
• Delete your account and associated personal data.
• Export a copy of your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent for optional data processing activities.

11. Cookies

Raia uses essential cookies to maintain your authentication session and user preferences. These cookies are necessary for the proper functioning of the Platform. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

12. Third-Party Links & External Websites

Raia contains links to external government websites and third-party services. These links are provided for your convenience and informational purposes only. Raia is not responsible for the content, accuracy, privacy practices, or availability of external government websites or any third-party platforms. When you click a link that takes you away from Raia, you are subject to the terms and privacy policies of that external site.

13. Children's Privacy

Raia is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child under 18 has provided personal information, we will take steps to delete it.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email or through the Platform. Continued use of Raia after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
